Qualitative Research Experience of A New Researcher Earned Ph.D.

본 연구는 박사학위 논문을 질적 연구로 수행한 신진연구자의 연구 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하고자 근거이론 분석방법을 적용한 단일사례연구이다. 본 연구의 자료 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개인적 차원의 질적 연구 경험에서, <질적 연구의 시작>이라는 조건은 <질적 연구지식의 이해가 깊어짐>, <연구도구로 질적 연구를 수행함>, <연구를 세상에 내기 위해 정련(精練)함>이라는 작용·상호작용을 촉진하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 작용·상호작용은 <질적 연구자로 현장에 섬>이라는 결과를 도출하였다. 둘째, 개인경험에 작용하는 사회적 조건과의 상호작용에서, <폭력을 용인하는 체육문화>, <학문의 양적 패러다임에서 질적 패러다임으로 넘어가는 과도기>와 같은 거시적 개념에서부터, ‘주변 사람들의 긍정적, 부정적 반응’에 이르는 미시적 개념까지 설명되었다. 셋째, 질적 연구 경험은 개인적 경험과 외부에서 작용하는 사회적 조건과의 상호작용에 의한 복잡한 상호작용의 결과임이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 신진연구자의 개인적 경험과 외부와의 상호작용을 분석하여 질적 연구 경험의 총체적 이해를 도모하였다. 이는 질적 연구를 수행하거나 준비하는 연구자들에게 질적 연구수행에 대한 이해와 정보를 제공하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

Th is study is a single case study, applying grounded theory analysis method to deeply explore the qualitative research experience of a new researcher who has obtained a doctoral degree. Th e results of this study are as follows. First, in the experience of qualitative research at the individual level, the condition of <the beginning of qualitative research> promotes the interaction among <deepening understanding of qualitative research knowledge>, <perform qualitative research as a research tool>, and <refi ning the research to introduce to the world>. Th ese actions and interactions led to the result that <they go out and enter the fi eld as qualitative researchers>. Second, interactions with social conditions affecting individual experiences are analyzed through contextual/conditional matrix analysis. It was explained in wide range from the macro-concepts such as <the sports culture that tolerates violence> and <the transition from quantitative paradigm to qualitative paradigm in science> to the micro-concept of the positive and negative reactions of the people around them. Th ird, it was found that the qualitative research experience was the result of complex interaction, generated from the interaction of personal experiences and external social conditions. Th is study analyzed the relationship between the personal experience of a young researcher who acquired a degree with a qualitative research and the interaction with the outside factors, to gain a holistic understanding on the qualitative research experiences. It is meaningful as it can provide better understanding and information for researchers who are conducting or preparing qualitative research.
