An Analysis on the Effects of Household Consumption Expenditure on Household Characteristics According to the Change of Housing Price

The study sought to establish that changes in housing prices lead to differences in consumer spending in households and differences in consumption expenditure in accordance with various types of households. On housing price changes, the analysis was carried out by dividing the housing price into the fall and rise periods, and the resulting difference between consumption expenditure and the consumption expenditure tax item that comprises it was identified. Through this process, we were able to identify clear differences in housing ownership status, residence type, and housing type. However, as noted in many previous studies, the asset-effect on consumption of housing prices in a micro-approach was unconfirmed. In addition, the detailed items of consumption expenditure that make up consumption expenditure for declining and rising housing prices were analyzed in order of vehicle transportation, education and housing costs, regardless of the changes in housing prices. Finally, the effect of household characteristics on consumer spending at the same time was found to be the most influential regardless of the changes in housing prices. The household size and area of use of the household were found to have an influence on the positive(+), while the age of the household owner was found to have a negative(-).
