혼례의 양상과 절차 고찰

남녀가 예를 갖추어 부부가 되어 평생을 함께 살아가는 것은 일생의례 중 가장 중요한 절차이다. 이 혼례는 예의와 범절을 덕목으로 여기는 중요한 통과의례이다. 이미 삼국시대부터 혼례가 있었지만 오늘날 우리가 알고 있는 혼례의 근간은 조선시대 『주자가례(朱子家禮)』를 수용하면서 지배층을 중심으로 형성되었고, 이런 유교식 혼례는 조선시대 말기 일반서민층까지 널리 행하게 되었다. 하지만 개화기 이후 사회적 변화 속에 혼례 풍속도 많이 변화하였다. 서구의 혼례형식이 도입되면서 전통적인 유교식 혼례와 서구식 혼례가 공존하게 된 것이다. 서구 혼례의 형식인 웨딩드레스 착용, 웨딩사진 촬영, 신혼여행 등을 진행하면서도 전통적인 혼례 절차인 상견례, 함보내기, 폐백 등을 여전히 진행하고 있다. 혼례는 인생에서 가장 중요한 출발점이기에 본 연구에서는 혼례의 양상을 기원과 의혼(議婚), 납채(納采), 연길(涓吉), 납폐(納幣), 대례(大禮), 우귀(于歸) 등의 절차 그리고 혼례의 변화와 양상을 통해 광범위하게 혼례의 의미를 되짚어보고자 한다. 현재 우리나라에서 진행 중인 혼례의 혼합된 형태는 많은 사회적 문제를 시키고 있다. 따라서 이런 문제를 해결할 수 있는 사회적 시스템과 현실적이고 실효성 있는 혼례예절교육을 진행할 수 있는 기관이 많아지길 기대한다. 본 연구가 전통적인 혼례의 의미를 되짚어보고 혼례예절에 관한 인식을 개선할 수 있는 지식을 축적하는데 밀알의 자료가 되길 기대한다.

Regarding a male and a female living together for the whole life by possessing the manners and by becoming a married couple, it is the most important procedure among the lifetime ceremonies. The wedding is an important rite of passage which considers the manners and the etiquettes as the virtues. Although, already, there had been the weddings from the Three Kingdoms Period, the basis of the wedding we know today had been formed by being centered on the ruling class while accepting the Jujagarye of the Joseon Dynasty Period. And such a Confucian wedding had been widely carried out by even the ordinary people at the end of the Joseon Dynasty Period. But, after the time of the enlightenment, within the social changes, the wedding custom, too, had been changed a lot. With the introduction of the form of the wedding of the West, the traditional, Confucian wedding and the Western-style wedding got around to co-existing. While proceeding with the wearing of the wedding dress, the taking of the wedding photographs, the honeymoon, etc., which are the forms of the wedding of the West, the traditional wedding procedures of the formal bows between a bride and a bridegroom, sending a ham (box) to the bride, the pyebaek (traditional ceremony to pay respect to the (bride)groom s family by the newly-wedded couple right after their wedding), etc. have been proceeded with. Because the wedding is the most important departure point in life, in this research, regarding the aspects of the wedding, it is intended to look back at the meaning of the wedding wide-rangingly through the procedures of the origin, the uihon, the napchae, the yeongil, the nappye, the daerye, the wugwi, etc. and the changes and the aspects of the wedding. The mixed forms of the weddings which have been proceeded with in our country at present have been causing a lot of the social problems. As a result, I have the high expectation that there will be a social system that can solve such problems and that there will be a lot of the organizations that can proceed with the realistic and effective, wedding manners education. I wish that this research will become a material that is a grain of wheat in looking back at the meaning of the traditional wedding and in accumulating the knowledge that can improve the awareness regarding the wedding manners.
