임마누엘(이사 7,14)의 신원과 신학적 의미에 관한 고찰

Study on the identity of Immanuel (Isaiah 7,14) and its theological meaning

임마누엘은 구약성경에서 가장 수수께끼와 같은 인물이다. 그러한 수수 께끼를 풀기 위한 임마누엘 신원에 관한 연구는 구약에서 가장 활발하게 이뤄졌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 신원에 관한 물음은 오늘날까지 학자들 사이에서 아직도 합의에 이르지 못하고 있다. 본고는 그러한 시도 가운데, 임마누엘 신원 해석에 대한 상징적 해석의 가능성을 공시적인 관점에서 타진한다. 이사야 예언서의 테두리 안에서 임마누엘과 “그 젊은 여인 (hml[)”의 신원을 시온 신학과의 연관성 안에서 규명하며, 이로부터 임마누 엘이 예언서 안에서 수행하는 문학적·신학적 기능을 제시한다. 임마누엘의 탄생 예고는(7,14) 홀로 독립된 본문이 아니라, 뒤이어 등장하는 아기의 탄생과 그의 즉위(9,1-6), 통치권의 행사(11,1-5)를 통하여 구체화되고 완성된 다. 이러한 일련의 과정은 임마누엘이 주님으로부터 주어진 새로운 이상적 통치자라는 사실을 부각시킨다. 주체는 임마누엘 자신이 아닌, 야훼 하느 님이다. 야훼 하느님의 왕권 행사의 결과, 그것이 임마누엘이다. 그렇게 새로운 통치자로 등극한 임마누엘은 다윗 왕조와 구별되며, 동시에 다윗 왕조를 넘어서는 새로운 형태의 통치 구조를 지향하며, 새로운 하느님 백성 공동체를 기획한다. 이를 통해, 임마누엘의 문학적·신학적 기능이 예언서 안에서 구체화된다. 임마누엘은 이사야서 안에서 하느님의 왕권과 시온 신학을 한 인격 안에서 육화한 인물이며, 새로운 하느님 백성 공동체를 위한 말씀 그 자체이다.

Immanuel is the most mysterious person in the Old Testament. The studies on the identity of Immanuel in the Old Testament were made very vigorously to solve such a mystery. Nevertheless, until today, the questions about his identity still couldn’t reach an agreement between the scholars. Among such attempts, this study tries to tap the possibility of the symbolic interpretation about the identity of Immanuel on public concept. Within the framework of the Book of Isaiah examines the identities of Immanuel and ‘the virgin (=alma)’ in the Zion theology connection, and from this, proposes Immanuel’s literal and theological function in the Book of Isaiah. The Immanuel birth announcement(7,14) is not an independent text, but is concreted and completed through following birth, his dominion(9,1-6) and exercising his power of sovereignty(11,1-5). Such a series of processes highlighted the fact that Immanuel is the ideal ruler given from God. The subject is YHWH God, not Immanuel himself. Immanuel is just the result of YHWH God’s sovereign power. Immanuel who enthroned as a new ruler is distinguished from the King David dynasty, at the same time aimed for new ruling structure beyond the King David dynasty and planned a new community of God’s people.Through this, Immanuel’s literal and theological function is concreted within the Book of Isaiah. Immanuel is the incarnated person in one personal being within God’s sovereign power and Zion theology in the Book of Isaiah and is the Word itself for the new community of God’s people.
