중국 대만 지역의 대학교 홀리스틱 교육의 이론과 실천:

The Theory and Practice of Holistic Education in Taiwan, China: A Case Study of Chung Yuan Christian University

중국 대만 지역의 고등교육은 지속적으로 신속하게 발전하여 왔다. 그러나 최근 몇 년간 대만의 정치경제 구조의 전환에 따라 도덕적 가치가 상실되고, 공리주의, 인간관계가 멀어지는 등 사회문제가 점차 나타났다. 갈수록 심해지는 교육의 공리적 추세에 대해, 대만에서는 90 년대 중반부터 ‘홀리스틱’이론 열풍이 일어났다. 대만은 1988년에 ‘21세기 교육 비전’에서 ‘홀리스틱 교육, 따뜻한 캠퍼스,평생학습 을 ‘교육의 주축’으로 제시했다. 이 논문은 다년간 홀리스틱 교육을 제창한 대만 중원대학 교의 사례를 중심으로, 대만 고등교육 기관의 홀리스틱 교육의 이론과 실천을 연구한다. 또한 대만중원대학교 홀리스틱 교육의 특색 이론이 반영된 통식교육, 전공교육, 학생지도, 캠퍼스문화 등 분야의 구체적인 실천을 결합하여, 대학교 홀리스틱 교육이론의 기본 구조와 실천 경험을 도출한다. 한국의 대학에서도 홀리스틱 교육에 대한 연구를 통한 실천이 필요할 것이라고 본다.

Higher education in Taiwan has been developed rapidly. However, with the economic and political transitions in Taiwan in recent years, some social problems arise, such as lowering moral values, strong utilitarianism, estranged human relationship, etc. While utilitarianism prevails in the domain of education, a hot discussion about holistic education was raised in Taiwan after the middle period of 1990s. In 1998, in the vision of education in the 21st century, Taiwan put forward holistic education, warm campus, lifelong learning as the main axis of education. Based on the analyses of holistic education theory and practice in Taiwan, with the sample of Chung Yuan Christian University, we can draw some conclusions by using various study methods, such as documentations, questionnaires, interviews, and comparative analysis. Korean universities also need to carry out the practice through the research on holistic education.
