The Impact of Regional Agricultural Extension Policy － Case of Herbal and Horticultural Farm Income －

There are tw o m ain types of agricultural extension projects in Korea, the im pacts and routes of each type on farm incom e are different. This paper em pirically studies the im pact of agricultural extension to farm s’ incom e, using M ulti-level production function considering tim e lag. It is found that direct type of extension has positive effect to farm s’ incom e. Also indirect type on incom e is significant only w hen the level of education is high. D ue to the characteristics of Korean agricultural structure, the technical level of farm is greatly influenced by the governm ent’s R&D investm ent and technology guidance. The result im plies that indirect type of extension that take into account the educational level of farm s should be em phasized for long-term technological advances.
