의사소통 역량 함양을 위한 사회과 백워드 수업 설계 방안 탐색

A Study on Applying Backward Design to Social Studies to Enhance Communication Competency

본 연구에서는 사회과 의사소통 역량 함양을 위한 백워드 수업 설계 방안을 탐색하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 의사소통 역량의 의미를 탐색하고 핵심역량으로써 의사소통 역량이 사회과 수업에서 기능하는 역할을 고찰하였다. 또한 의사소 통 역량을 평가할 수 있는 평가요소를 적용하여 의사소통 역량이 주가 되는 핵심역량 기반의 수업을 설계하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 그 설계의 이론적 기반을 Wiggins와 McTighe(2005)의 백워드 수업 설계에서 찾았다. 본 연구에서는 이를 통 해 핵심역량으로서 의사소통 역량의 사회과 수업 적용 가능성을 탐색하여 의사소통역량을 반영한 백워드 설계 템플릿을 구안하였다. 이와 같은 백워드 수업 설계의 사회과 적용은 교육과정의 변화 및 평가관의 변화를 담아낼 수 있는 하나의 프레임으 로서 작용할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of applying backward design to social studies education to enhance communication competency. To do this, exploring communication competency and finding role of communication competency as core competency in social studies education. Also the core competency-based curriculum is made by applying evaluation standard which are able to assess the students’ communication competency. This study finds its theoretical foundation to develop a competency-based education program from backward design which firstly invented by Wiggins and McTighe. The study analyses the possibility of applying communication competency to social studies education as a core competency and the significance of developing backward design template applying communication competency. Hence, the application of backward design to social studies education can serve as a framework that entails changes in the education system and evaluators.
