본고의 목적은 포스트휴머니즘, 신경과학, 인문학이 맺고 있는 삼각관계의 미래적 의미를 면밀하게 고찰함으로써 앞으로 점차 심각해질 인문학의 위기에 맞서는 대응을 준비하는 데 이론적, 실천적 도움을 제공하려는 것이다. 포스트휴머니즘 시대에서 신경과학의 중요성을 커지고 있지만 신경과학의 최신 연구결과들은 인간주체와 세계에 관한 이해를 새롭게 정립함으로써 인문학과 신경과학의 마찰과 대립을 야기하고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 신경과학과 인문학이 포스트휴머니즘 관련 담론에서 충돌하는 양상을 고찰하고 그 영향이 우리의 인간과 세계에 대한 이해와 통찰에 어떤 파급효과를 미칠지에 대한 전망과 함께 인문학이 신경과학과 조화를 이룰 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 이를 통해 본고에서는 신경과학과 인문학이 어떤 상보적인 관계를 정립할 수 있을지에 대한 가능성을 모색하고자 한다.
The aim of this essay is to suggest a new epistemological and practical way that helps respond to the increasing crisis of humanities by examining the triangular relations among posthumanism, neuroscience, and humanities. In this era of posthumanism, the importance of neuroscience is increasingly highlighted, causing conflicts and confrontations between humanities and the recent findings of neuroscience in terms of understanding of human subjectivity and the world. Hence, I will offer a critical analysis of how neuroscience and humanities have collided in the discourse of posthumanism, as well as a way to harmonize humanities with neuroscience by suggesting how their impact will collectively have a profound effect on our understanding and insights about humans and the world. The purpose of this paper is thus to explore the possibility of the mutually constitutive relationship between neuroscience and humanities.
