이 글의 목적은 메를로-퐁티의 『지각의 현상학』에서 드러나는 현상학과 주체성의 의미를 고찰하는 것에 있다. 『지각의 현상학』은 프랑스에서 현상학이 라는 제목이 들어가기 시작한 첫 번째 책이다. 그런 만큼 『지각의 현상학』이 함축 하는 의미는 프랑스 현상학에 있어서 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 이 글의 내용은 두가지 흐름으로 요약된다. 먼저 메를로-퐁티의 현상학이 후설의 현상학과 어떻게 다른지 파악하고 그 특성을 고찰한다. 다음으로 『지각의 현상학』에 드러나는 주체 성의 의미를 고찰하기 위해 데카르트의 코기토(cogito)와 메를로-퐁티의 침묵의 코기토(tacit cogito)를 비교하고 주체성이 시간성과 연관된다는 것을 고찰한다.

The Purpose of this essay is to study the meaning of phenomenology and subjectivity in Merleau-ponty’s Phenomenology of perception. Phenomenology of perception is the first book that has the word phenomenology in the title of the book at France. So The meaning of Phenomenology of perception is important. So we need to take note of phenomenology of Merleau-ponty. This essay is summarized into two points. First, I study the difference between phenomenology of Husserl and phenomenology of Merleau-ponty. Next, I study that subjectivity is connected time and I compare Descartes Cogito with Merleau-ponty s tacit Cogito.
