초등학교 교육과정에 근거한 승마교육의 적합성과 내용체계 탐색

A Study on the Suitability of Equestrian Education for the Elementary School Curriculum and Derivation of Content Standards

이 연구는 초등학교 정규체육수업에 승마의 도입 가능성을 확인하고자 초등학교 교육과정에 근거하여 승마교육의 적합성을 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 승마교육의 내용체계를 구성하는 데 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 승마교육의 적합성은 교육과정 문서 비교를 통해 확인하였고, 승마교육의 내용체계는 2017년 6월부터 10월에 걸쳐 참여 관찰, 심층 면담 등을 통하여 수집된 자료를 Spradley(1979)가 제안한 영역분석과 분류분석의 방법을 활용하여 분석한 자료를 토대로 구성하였다. 연구결과 승마교육은 초등교육이 추구하는 인간상 구현과 핵심역량 강화, 인성교육 강화, 신체활동가치 추구의 기제가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 다음으로 승마교육의 내용체계 구성은 각각 이해(말 이해하기), 공감(말과 친해지기), 수행(말과 하나되기)의 영역과 내용요 소를 도출할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 승마교육의 질적 제고를 위해 승마교육의 실태 분석 및 개선방안 도출, 승마관련 진로 선택의 기회 제공을 위한 후속연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the suitability of equestrian education based on the elementary school curriculum to identify the possibility of introducing horseback riding to curricular physical education classes in elementary schools, and to construct content standards based on this. To this end, the suitability of equestrian education was confirmed through comparison of curriculum documents, and the content standards of equestrian education was organized through the domain analysis and taxonomic analysis proposed by Spradley (1979) with data collected through participation observation and in-depth interview from June to October 2017. As a result, it was confirmed that equestrian education could be the foundation for the realization of the human nature that primary education pursues, enhancement of core competences, enhancement of personal values, and pursuit of the value of physical activity. Next, the composition of the contents system in equestrian education was able to formulate the categories and content elements of understanding (understanding horse), empathy (being friendly with horse), and performance (working together with horse) respectively. Finally, in order to enhance the quality of equestrian education, this study suggested the need for a follow up study to analyze the actual situation of equestrian education, to draw improvement plans, and to provide opportunities to choose a career related to horse riding.
