特性を表す 形容詞＋名詞 述語文と 形容詞述語文 - 会話文と地の文における主語の示し方と述語構造とのかかわり -

“Adjective + Noun” Predicate Sentences and Adjective Predicate Sentences - Focusing on the Way Subjects are Marked -

形容詞+名詞 述語文(例えば 山田先生はやさしい人だ のような文)と 形容詞述語文(例えば 山田先生はやさしい のような文)は、主語名詞の表 す事物の特性を述べるという点で共通しているが、述語構造が異なるとい う相違点がある。本稿では、文の中で主語(特性の持ち主)がどのように提 示されるかに着目し、会話文と地の文においてその特徴を比較分析するこ とによって二つの構文の違いを明らかにしようした。その結果、両形式は 会話文では主語の示し方において大きな違いを見せたが、地の文では相違 がほとんどみられない。また、会話文と地の文にわけて両者を比較してみ ると、形容詞述語文は会話文と地の文において大きな違いがみられるが、 形容詞+名詞 述語文では同じような結果を見せた。これは述部に名詞を 含んでいるか否かという述語構造の違いによるものと思われる。 つまり、この結果は次のような特徴を示していると考えられる。まず、 主語の特性を表すという両者の共通の意味的特徴は、地の文における主語 の示し方によく反映されていると言えそうである。次に、形容詞述語文の 結果からみると、形容詞が有している評価的な側面は会話文の形容詞述語 文によくあらわれていて、それは様々な主語の示し方と呼応することに反 映されている。一方、 形容詞+名詞 述語文では形容詞の意味が述語名詞 によって限定されていて、地の文においても会話文においても属性の側面 が際立って表現されることを示している。

The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of “adjective + noun” predicate sentences and adjective predicate sentences, focusing on the way subjects are marked in dialogues and narratives. Both “adjective + noun” predicate sentences and adjective predicate sentences are frequently marked by wa. However, adjective predicate sentences can thus be said to show greater variation in subject marking in dialogues than narratives. In adjective predicate sentences, there was a big difference between dialogues and narratives, but in “adjective + noun” predicate sentences, similar results were obtained between dialogues and narratives. This result shows the following things. First, the common semantic characteristic that the two types of sentence express the properties of objects denoted by subjects are well reflected in the way subjects are marked in narratives. Secondly, the evaluative features of adjectives are well reflected in adjective predicate sentences of the conversations, and they are reflected in the variations of subject marking. On the other hand, in the “adjective + noun” predicate sentence, the meaning of the adjective is limited by the predicate noun, and the attribute aspect of the subject noun is prominently expressed in narratives as well as in dialogues.
