중도식무문토기 출현연대 재검토

When did Jungdo type pottery begin in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula?

중부지역에서 중도식무문토기가 출현하는 시점은 빨라도 기원전 1세기이며, 기원후로 보는 연구자도 많다. 중도식무문토기에 선행하는 삼각형점토대토기문화의 실체는 여전히 밝혀지지 않았고, 원형 점토대토기의 연대는 점차로 상향 조정되고 있는 추세가 더해져 점토대토기문화와 중도문화의 공백기 문제는 더욱 해결하기 어려워졌다. 그러나 중도식무문토기 출현연대 추정의 배경에는 史實同調의 연대가 선입견으로 상존하고 있는 문제점이 있기 때문에 본고에서는 탄소14연대의 집성과 정확한 해석을 통해 새로이 출현연대를 결정하였다. 중도식무문토기는 늦어도 기원전 2세기 전반에는 출현했고, 빠르면 기원전 3세기 후반까지 소급될 가능성을 제시하면서 대폭 상향 조정하였다. 중부지역의 삼각형점토대토기는 측정치가 빈약하지만 기원전 3세기에는 출현했다. 남부지역의 연대와 거의 비슷하고, 삼각형점토대토기에서 중도식무문토기로의 상대순서는 인정된다. 다만 이것은 중부지역에서 재지의 삼각형점토대토기문화가 중도식무문토기문화로 변화했다는 것을 의미하지 않기 때문에 송국리유형과 원형점토대토기문화로부터 중도 식무문토기와의 시간적 접점을 찾는 것을 대안으로 제시하였다. 중부지역 무문토기문화에 대한 안정적인 하한연대를 확정할 수 있게 된다면 머지않아 공백기의 문제는 해소될 수 있을 것이다. 시간적 접점을 찾아내는 선행 작업을 통해 사회문화적 접점을 찾는 작업으로 나아갈 수 있게 된다.

Until now, the age of appearance of Jungdo type pottery has been identified as the first century BCE. Some researchers regard the age of Jungdo type pottery as the first or second century. The reality of pottery with triangular clay band rim preceding Jungdo type pottery remains unclear, and the age of pottery with round clay band rim is gradually increasing. Therefore, it is difficult to solve the problems of blank period between Jungdo culture and pottery with clay band rim culture. In this paper, the age of appearance of Jungdo type pottery was newly determined through close analysis and the consolidation of radiocarbon dates. Jungdo type pottery appeared in the first half of the second century BCE and suggested the possibility of retrogression until the second half of the 3rd century BCE. I greatly went back to the calendar age. Data on pottery with triangular clay band rim in the central(Jungbu) area are inadequate, but appeared in the 3rd century BCE. This age is similar to the southern(Nambu) area, and the relative order of pottery with triangular clay band rim to Jungdo type pottery is recognized. However, this does not mean that pottery with triangular clay band rim changed to Jungdo type pottery in the central area. I proposed to find a temporal point of contact between pottery with round clay band rim culture and Jungdo culture. If we can establish a stable lower-limit age for plain(Mumun) pottery culture in the central area, the problem of blank period will be solved soon. In order to arrive at socio- cultural points of contact, finding a temporal point of contact should be preceded.
