어머니의 사춘기 자녀 양육경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

A Narrative Inquiry on Mothers’ Experience of Parenting Children in Puberty

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 사춘기 자녀 양육경험을 심층적으로 분석하여 그 경험이 주는 의미를 깊이 있게 탐색하고 이해하는 것이다. 본 연구의 참여자는 사춘기 자녀를 양육한 경험이 있는 세 명의 어머니이며, 2017년 6월부터 2017년 10월까지 심층 면담 및 추가 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구에서는 연구 참여자들의 삶에서 사춘기 자녀를 양육하는 것이 참여자들에게 어떻게 경험되고 어떤 의미로 구성되는지를 이해하기 위해 내러티브 탐구방법이 활용되었다. 연구결과에 따르면, 어머니의 사춘기 자녀 양육경험은 ‘맞닥뜨림’, ‘양육 가치관’, ‘이해의 과정’, ‘변화된 관계’라는 핵심적인 의미를 구성하고 있었다. 특히 어머니의 사춘기 자녀 양육경험을 관통하는 가장 핵심적인 주제는 이해의 과정이며 그 이해의 과정을 통해 어머니와 자녀라는 역할에 국한된 관계가 아니라 함께 성장하고 살아가는 협력자와 지지자로서 두 사람이 관계가 변화될 수 있음을 발견하였다. 이밖에 부모교육 및 청소년 교육 상담에 관한 연구결과의 시사점, 본 연구의 제한점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to deeply analyze mothers’ experiences of parenting children in puberty. For this purpose, the study involved three mothers who had experiences of parenting teenage children. This study examined how participants experienced and organized the meanings of experiences of parenting their teenage children through the narrative inquiry proposed by Clandinin and Connelly(2000). The research findings revealed the core meanings of participants’ experiences; ‘encountering children’s puberty , ‘parenting value , ‘understanding process , ‘changed relationship . In particular, the most important theme that penetrates the participants’ experiences was the process of understanding. The participants have grew into a cooperator and a supporter with the process of understanding. Implications of the findings, suggestions for parent education and adolescent counseling, limitations of this study, and directions for future research were discussed.
