시민교육 활동가의 교육경험에 관한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Study on the Educational Experience of the Activists in Citizenship Education

본 연구의 목적은 시민교육 활동가의 경험에 비추어 시민교육의 다양한 요소에 대해 파악하고 실제의 교육 실천은 어떠한 방식으로 이루어지고 있는지 이해하고자하는데 있다. 이를 위해 시민사회단체, 공공기관, 대학의 시민교육 활동가를 대상으 로 인터뷰를 실시하여, 시민교육 교수자의 역할과 시민교육 내용과 방법을 분석하였다. 그 결과 시민교육의 교수 활동은 학습자와의 관계 맺기와 활동가의 개인적 신념 실천을 위한 활동으로 나타났다. 학습자에 대해서는 자신의 문제로 인식하도록 안내하고, 학습자의 마음을 고려하는 것이 중요하다는 것을 확인했다. 교육 방법적으로는 교육 방식 자체가 민주성을 갖고 생각에 참여하도록 촉진하는 활동이 전개되었다. 내용적으로는 실제의 삶의 내용이 다루어져야하며, 학습자가 사회와 자신의 관 계를 연결 지을 수 있도록 지원해야한다. 또한 교육이 실천과 분리되지 않고 진행되어야 한다. 마지막으로 시민교육이 그 자체의 목적인 민주성을 담보하기 위해 우리 사회에서 교육에 부여하는 권력에 저항하며 자본주의적 방식의 교육 실천을 경계해 야한다는 것이 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 그 동안 주목하지 않았던 시민교육 실천 현장의 목소리를 들음으로서 시민교육 실천과 연구를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to understand how the professors, learners, content, and methods of civil education are being carried out focusing on the experiences of civil education activists through a qualitative research method. To this end, civic groups, public institutions workers, and universities faculties were interviewed. As a result, the teaching activities of civil education have been shown to be activities by establishing relationships with learners and practicing their beliefs. Instruct learners to be aware of their problems and confirm that it is important to consider the learners minds. As an educational method, there was an activity that promoted participation in ideas with the democracy of the education system itself. Content should cover the content of real life, support learners to link their relationships with society, and education should proceed without separating them from practice. Finally, it has been confirmed that civil education should resist the power it gives to education in our society to guarantee its own purpose of democracy and be wary of practicing education in a capitalist manner. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for the practice and research of civil education by listening to the voices of civic education practice sites that have not been noted.
