업神과 자시키와라시(ざしきわらし) 설화 비교 연구

A Comparative Study of the Eop God and Zashikiwarashi Folk Tales

한국의 업神과 일본의 자시키와라시가 사는 집안은 부유해지며, 이들이 나가면 그 집안은 망하고 만다. 두 대상은 집안의 성쇠를 주관하는 가신(家神)으로서 닮은 점이 많다. 본 연구에서는 업神과 자시키와라시를 성격과 설화의 특성으로 분류하여 비교해 보았다. 업神과 자시키와라시는 재물신·수호신·재앙신·예언신·간택신적 성격을 지닌다. 두 가신이 머무는 집은 재물신의 가호를 받아 부자가 된다. 두 가신은 집의 재복(財福)과 가산을 지키며 집안을 수호한다. 두 가신은 자신에게 해를 가할 시에 재앙을 내린다. 두 가신은 흉사를 예언하기 위해 사람 앞에 나타난다. 두 가신은 신이 사제를 간택하듯이, 인연을 맺은 특정한 사람에게만 보이고 특정한 사람만을 따라다닌다. 업神 설화와 자시키와라시 설화는 한 일 국민의 경험담이다. 두 가신 설화는 제보자 자신이나 제보자의 주변 사람이 직접 경험한 이야기가 대부분이며, 비교적 최근에 일어난 일이다. 업神 설화와 자시키와라시 설화는 양국 국민이 직접 겪은 경험이 구전되어 설화 화(說話化) 된 것이다. 이처럼 두 가신에 대한 신앙과 설화는 양국 국민의 실생활과 의식 속에 내재되어 있다.

The household where the Eop god of Korea and Zashikiwarashi of Japan stay becomes rich. On the other hand, if they leave the household, the household will be ruined. These two household gods have many similarities as they control the rise and fall of households. This study classifies and compares the Eop god and Zashikiwarashi in the following ways: the characters of the Eop god and Zashikiwarashi and characteristics of folk tales. The Eop god and Zashikiwarashi have the characters of a god of property, a god of guardian, a god of disaster, a god of prophecy, and a god of selection. The household where these two household gods live becomes rich by getting the blessing of the god of property. These two household gods protect the property and the good fortune of households and the houses. Also, these gods curse on the people who try to attack them. These two household gods appear themselves in front of a person to foretell an evil event. As a god selects his priest, these gods only follow and show themselves to the chosen people. The Eop god and Zashikiwarashi tales are the experienced stories of Koreans and Japanese people. These two household god tales are mostly about the stories experienced by the informer himself or his surrounding people, and they have been happened in relatively recent time. These folk tales become tales by passing on orally the experience of the people of both countries. These beliefs and tales about the two household gods are inherent in the real life and the consciousness of the people of both countries.
