The conditions and alternative perspectives of the service systems against family violence focusing on wife abuse

The purposes of this study are to analyze the current conditions of the service systems against family violence and to suggest the alternative perspectives focusing on wife abuse. To study these objectives, the existing data were re-analyzed and qualitative data were obtained through FGI(Focus Group Interview). The results of this study are as follows: The tendencies of family violence are still quite serious despite various service facilities and programs. Also the awareness about the service systems for abused wives are not high. So Interviewed counselors point out the need of financial support for service centers, enlargement of professionals and human resources, and systematic networking like as one-stop system. For the competency enrichment of the personnel and counseling centers, training and educations are needed. Furthermore the change of local service system to more cooperative and integrative direction is imperative and the development of more specified programs for prevention and intervention against family violence are strongly needed.
