Safety evaluation was conducted under Korea Food and Drug Administration “Guideline for toxicity testing of pharmaceuticals according to Korea Technology Research(KTR), 2 weeks single oral dose toxicity test. From the results, there were no significant toxicological changes for the Loquat leaves extract (EJE) up to 2 weeks. when the Loquat leaves extract was orally administrated once at dose level of 2,000 mg/kg b.w. The quercetin, one of the ingredients for Loquat leaves, were analysed quantitatively to establish indicator with the use of HPLC. Quantitative result for the quercetin, 0.41 mg/g of raw materials were detected, and 0.69 mg/g of Loquat leaves extract was detected.
