A Study on the Effects of Background Variables and Family Strengths Perceived Adolescents on Self-Concept

The purpose of this study were to search traits of adolescents family strengths and self-concept and to examine effective variables influencing on adolescents self-concept. The subjects were the 498 middle school students in JellaNamdo. Data were analyzed with Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Std, Cronbach s α, Correlation Analysis, and Multiple Regression using SPSS/PC WIN 21.0 program. The major findings were as follows: First, The adolescents family strengths scores were higher than median(3.00). Especially, financial stability was highest and communication and family bonding was lowest. Second, Self-concept were influenced by role sharing and problem solving, satisfaction with friend, financial stability, school grade, communication and family bonding, and father s age. And the adolescents self-concept were explained about 54% by these variables.
