This study is to review how the 6・25 Korean war might affect the change of the costume of the Korean men and women before and after the war respectively. The method of the study started by the examining the western style of clothing before and after the 1950 through the retrospective research of the costume history after the review of the resources about the Korean war. By the pictures taken before and after the Korean war, the influences of the Korean war to Korean costumes was elucidated with qualitative analysis about them. The results are like these. Before the war, in men’s wear, the eastern and western mixed pattern of the costumes were observed, for example, the tailored suit of the western types, Chinese Mao suit, Japanese school uniform style, and traditional Korean costume Hanbok. During the Korean war, the people wore the Hanbok, and the public officials tend to take western style costumes. After the war, military uniform was taken by people with repair, thanks to charities from the America and Europe, also from the smuggling, sometimes ones of the deep colored dyeing. After the war, the women wore the clothes of Hanbok more frequently than the men in its proportions. During the war, the Mompae of the simply designed loose pants, and the sweater were also observed. After the war, the government driven new life movement made the Hanbok be simple, resulting in short Chima in length, the shortening of the Jeogori and without breast strings while the western style in women were also relatively prevalent, due to the aids from the other countries though these were more limited in women than in men. These were also same in the children, I.e. the girls tend to wear the Hanbok, and boys wear the western styles. The orphans of the war tend to wear the western style of the costumes due to the aids from the western countries.
