Correlation between the recognition of cooperation and organizational performance of dentists and dental hygienists in Busan

The purpose of this study was to identify the quality of dental care services and to improve awareness of the role of dental hygienists in dental clinics, as well as to analyze the association of the collaboration factor and organizational performance. In addition, the medical institution verified the awareness of the collaboration factor according to the collaboration environment, level, and satisfaction, and provided basic data for efficient dental care services. From March 5th to April 20th in 2018, five dental hospitals and 30 dental clinics in Busan conducted a survey. In total, 180 surveys were collected and used. The survey identified the sociological characteristics of the participants and the degree of recognition of the collaboration factor through the collaboration environment, collaboration levels, and satisfaction with collaboration. The survey was conducted by organizational performance contribution, with management performance and improvement of capability. Statistical analysis utilised the SPSS (ver 23.0) program. As a result, dentists outperformed dental hygienists in both their collaboration factor and organizational performance contribution. Dentist awareness was higher than dental hygienists in the collaboration environment with regard to the collaboration factor. Married, 30~35 years old dentists and dental clinic groups scored higher in collaboration levels, and dentists in the 5~10 years of total career group scored higher in satisfaction of collaboration. Gender and work period were not significant to the collaboration factor. Moreover, male, married dentists, and practitioners who conducted both medical treatment and consultative groups scored higher in management performance. Married dentists and practitioners who conducted both medical treatment and consultative groups scored higher in improvement capability. Age, workplace, and total career period did not affect organizational performance contribution. The collaboration level of dental practitioners was highly correlated with the satisfaction of collaboration
