The Meaning and Realization of Freedom as a Human Right

한국사회는 압축적 산업화 과정에서 도덕과 전통윤리가 개개인의 행동의 기준으로서의 의미가 약화되었다. 이를 대신하여 개개인의 존엄성을 보장하는 사회를 만들기 위해서 요구되는 것은 인권에 대한 감수성일 것이다. 그러나 인권을 보장한다는 것은 다양한 의미가 있다. 따라서 무엇을 인권으로 인식하는지에 의하여 보장되어야 할 내용도 다양하다. 그러나 이러한 인권이 보장된다면 개개인의 존엄성이 보장되는 사회에 좀 더 근접하게 될 것이 다. 따라서 인권보장에서 무엇이 중요한 의미가 있는지를 아는 것은 중요하다. 이 연구는 광주시민들의 인권의식에 대한 실태조사 결과를 가지고 시민들이 인권을 어떻게 인식하고 있는지 살펴보고 인권이 보장되는 사회를 위한 인권의식을 확장하기 위하여 누구를 대상 으로 어떤 내용으로 인권교육이 실시되어야 하는지 검토하였다.

Morality and the ethics of the traditional society as standards for individuals` behavior are weaken in the Korean society during passing the compressed industrialization. In place of the morals and traditional ethics human rights sensitivity is necessary to build the society in which individuals` dignity is well guaranteed. However, guaranteing human rights has diverse meaning, because it depends on what the people understand under the human right. The clear one thing is that our society will come to close one that individuals dignity is well assured, if human rights are guaranteed. So it is very important to know what is meaningful for guaranteing human right. This article examines awareness of people of Gwangju about human right and with this result reviews with which contents and to whom human right education should be carried into effect.
