김현과 바슐라르 -1970년대 김현의 번역과 현대시 비평

Kim Hyeon and Bachelard : Kim Hyeon’s Translation and the Criticism on Contemporary Poetry in 1970s

김현은 바슐라르(Gaston Bachelard)가 문학적인 측면에서만 연구, 인용되는 경향을 비판한바 있다. 김현은 바슐라르가 불의 정신분석 이후 상상력 연구로 ‘개종’했다는 견해 대신에 바슐라르의 이론이 상상력-과학철학 두 영역의 상호결합의 산물이라는 점을 강조한다. 김현의 바슐라르 연구(1976)는 그러한 입장을 보여준 대표적인 저서이다. 특히 김현은 바슐라르가 상이한 과학지식 체계들간의 관계를 새롭게 이해하는 방식에 주목한 후, 이를 ‘감싸기’(enveloppement) 개념을 활용하여 소개했다. 한국의 바슐라르 수용사에서 김현이 차지하는 독자적인 위상은 김현 자신이 직접 번역한 ‘감싸기’ 개념에 있으며, 이 개념은 정현종(鄭玄宗)의 시문학을 비평하는 핵심용어였다. 더 나아가 민중문학을 대표하는 김수영(⾦洙暎)과 김지하(⾦芝河)에 대해 문학사적 평가가 분기되는 시점에 김현이 이 두 시인을 재론하면서 각별하게 사용한 것도 ‘감싸기’ 개념이었다.

Kim Hyeon have criticized the trend in which Gaston Bachelard was studied and quoted only in the literary aspect. Unlike the opinion that Bachelard had ‘converted’ to the study on the imagination after La psychanalyse de feu, Kim Hyeon stressed that the theory of Bachelard was the feat of combination of two different fields, that is, imagination and philosophy of science. The study on Bachelard by Kim Hyeon (1976) is a representative book which have shown his literary stand on Bachelard. After taking note of the method that Bachelard had understood the interrelation between different systems of scientific knowledge in a new way, Kim Hyeon introduced Bachelard through his concept, ‘the theory of Envelopment.’ The matchless status of Kim Hyeon in the study on Bachelard in Korean literary history is placed on ‘the concept of Envelopment’ which he translated on his own, and this concept was the key term of Jeong Jonghyeon in criticizing poetic literature. Moreover, it was this concept of ‘Envelopment’ when Kim Hyeon particularly used while reviewing two poets, who are representative of People Literature, Kim Suyeong and Kim Jiha at the bifurcation point of their literary evaluation.
