There is an upsurge in the number of Internet of things (IoT) devices that are interconnected through the Internet. IoT devices can also connect with other devices for sharing data. Application of the blockchain technique to various IoT devices can be a potential solution for ensuring seamless data integrity and enhancing data accessibility. The blockchain technique can ensure tamper-proof data sharing in the form of a distributed ledger that is secure and immutable. In this paper, a blockchain transaction data structure is proposed that can be employed in IoT environments. By implementing the transaction data as blocks, the authors aim at examining whether the blockchain technique can be applied for data sharing.
