靑銅器와 동반관계로 본 鐵器의 한반도 流入 年代

Introducing iron artifact to the Korean peninsula in terms of association with bronze artifact

한반도로 철기가 유입되는 시기는 크게 두 번으로 나눌 수 있다. 첫 번째는 외부에서 제작된 철기가 들어오는 시기로서 중국의 전국시대에 해당한다. 두 번째는 철기를 내부에서 자체적으로 제작하는 시기인데, 한군현 설치 이전으로 보는 설과 이후로 보는 설이 대립하고 있다. 이 글에서는 첫 번째의 외부에서 유입된 철기가 정확히 언제부터 들어왔는지를 동반한 청동기를 중심으로 살펴보고자 했다. 그 결과 전국‘ 연’의 화폐인 명도전과 동반하는 사례, 다뉴세문경·한 국식동검과 동반하여 출토되는 사례를 확인하였다. 그런데 명도전은 다뉴세문경·한국식동검과는 동반하지 않는다. 또한 중국 동북지역의 경우, 명도전과 동반하는 사례는 확인되지만 다뉴세문경· 한국식동검과 동반하는 사례는 없다. 대신 다뉴조문경이나 변형요령식동검과 동반하는 사례가 확인된다. 결국 한반도에서 철기가 유입되는 시기에 대한 결정적인 증거는 명도전이며, 명도전을 기준으로 기원전 3세기 후엽 이전에 철기가 유입된 것은 확실하다. 또한 명도전과 동반하는 사례가 없는 한반도 남부에서의 시기 역시 중국 동북지역에서 동반된 유물과의 형태나 조합을 비교해 볼 때, 북부와 같이 3세기 대 이전을 거슬러 올라가는 것으로 생각된다. 또한 중국 本溪 上堡 1호묘에서 변형요령식동검과 철기가 출토되는 양상으로 보아 기원전 4세기대 고조선의 철기문화를 보여주는 것일 가능성이 있으므로 향후 관심이 필요하다.

There are two perspectives about when the Iron Age started in the Korean Peninsula. The first is that it did in the China s Warring States Period, when iron artifacts made outside of the Peninsular first came in. The other is related to the times when, in the course of the territorial expansion of the Chinese Han Dynasty, plenty of iron artifacts were made here inside in the Peninsula. This article is intended to take a good look at the very beginning of the Iron Age in the Peninsula from the first point of view. This, as a result, leads us into finding out that iron artifacts in Korea were excavated alongside with Knife Money of the ancient China, or bronze mirrors with Minute Design and Korean type daggers respectively, but not all together. We should pay attention to this critical fact that Knife Money, which enables us to pinpoint the production years of any artifact, has never been associated with bronze mirrors with Minute Design or Korean type daggers before. In some unearthed cases in Northeast China, we have rather identified a link between Iron artifacts and Knife money or Liaoning type daggers. Consequently, we have come to a reasonable conclusion that an estimated time of the introduction of iron into the Korean Peninsula would be set approximately in the late 3rd century B.C., based on the production years of Knife money. On the other hand, given that iron was also unearthed from places where bronze mirrors with Minute Design and Korean type daggers were discovered, we might not have been sure about the exact year s validity. However, fortunately, a lot of bronze handles of daggers and Chinese type daggers from the two regions, the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China make it possible for us to estimate the years of entering iron from outside as in the late 3rd century B.C. as well, by comparing the artifacts co-excavated.
