An Analysis for Colorful Harmony of Pattern Foliage Plants by Theory of Moon & Spencer and Munsell’s Hamony

The recent trend of preference for visual design have changed as being culturally advanced in Korea. The preference of plants also changed a lot. This study shows the trend of color in pattern foliage plants to analyze harmony of color. The color measurement was measured by apparatus (X-rite Eye-one Xtreme iO bundle). The standard of color harmony was based on Moon & Spencer and Munsell’s harmony methodology. Munsell’s theory is similar to the result of research about preference for pattern foliage plants. That is to say Diffenbachia ‘Marianne’ is best color, followed by Epiprenum aureum ‘Golden Queen’, Caladium ‘Pink Beauty’, Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’, Aglaonema ‘Silver King’, Begonia rex, Peperomia sandersii, Calathea macoyana, Alocasia amazonica, and Calathea insignis. In theory of Moon & Spencer, the highest rate of beautiful plants is Caladium ‘Pink Beauty’, followed by Diffenbachia ‘Marianne’, Epiprenum aureum ‘Golden Queen’, Peperomia sandersii, Alocasia amazonica, Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Lurentii’, Calathea macoyana, Begonia rex, Calathea insignis, and Aglaonema ‘Silver King’. According to those of theory, colors that having high rate of harmonious beauty in pattern foliage plants are green and yellow green which is close to natural beauty. Also, The result of coloration have an obvious distinctions of tone and have a clear chroma instead of grayish colors.
