As the method of study, after studying the environment around the elementary schools with the help of a satellite pictures, and this research was conducted telephonic interviews, a field survey and online surveys(at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Bukbu District Office of Education and Gangdong District Office of Education). It was found that above 50% of the elementary schools had gardens in both Nowon-gu and Songpa-gu. There were only six elementary schools that had a textbook and grew about 60 plant species. Other schools cultivated less than 20 plant species. Recent interviews with elementary school teachers indicated that gardening programs positively correlate with learning ability, emotions.
