The purpose of this study is to set a direction to fully reflect regional landscape resources in botanical gardens to be specialized in regions and to develop and prioritize botanical garden planning indexes drawn from regional landscape resources in order to ensure the most cost-effective botanical gardens construction given limited budget and workforce. The result of this study shows that ‘natural resources(0.624)’ is rated as the most important, followed by ‘historical & cultural resources(0.203)’ and ‘social resources(0.172)’ in the high-level category. In the mid-level category, ‘cultural resources(0.592)’ was the highest, followed by ‘ecological resources(0.454)’, ‘historical resources(0.408)’, ‘community resources(0.408)’ and ‘forestry resources(0.400)’. In the low-level category, ‘vegetation (0.688)’ scored the highest, followed by ‘village traditions(0.641)’, ‘festivals(0.581)’ and ‘forests(0.557)’ in that order. Overall, ‘vegetation(0.195)’ and ‘forests(0.139)’ scored high, followed by ‘meadow(0.058)’ and ‘wetland(0.056)’. ‘Village traditions(0.053)’, ‘mountains(0.052)’ and ‘topography(0.050)’ are also important indexes. Besides, ‘symbols of village(0.050)’, ‘legends(0.044)’ and ‘festivals(0.041)’ also need to be considered. To sum up, ‘ecological resources’ and ‘forestry resources’ under the ‘natural resources’ category, ‘village traditions’ under the ‘historical resources’ category, ‘legends’ and ‘symbols of village’ under the ‘cultural resources’ category and ‘festivals’ under the ‘social resources’ category should be used as major indexes when establishing the direction of botanical garden construction based on regional landscape resources. In that context, it is recommended that a botanical garden planning to make use of regional landscape resources should be accompanied by efforts to tap into also ‘historical & cultural resources’ and ‘social resources’ so as to reflect regional identity in the botanical gardens.
