원예활동 프로그램이 초등학생의 정서지능, 사회적능력 및 학교적응력에 미치는 영향

Effect of Horticultural Activity Program on the Emotional Intelligence, Social Competency and School Adjustment in Elementary School Students

This study was conducted to examine the effects of horticultural activity program (HAP) on the emotional intelligence, social competency, and school adjustment of lower and upper grade students in elementary school students. The fifteen lower grade and fifteen higher grade students using the B library in Mokpo city were participated in this HAP. The program were performed 1 time per week from March 3 to July 14. The HAP were composed of making vegetable garden, making herb soap, planting a floricultural crops, and pressed flower. The emotional intelligence, social competency, and school adjustment scale were evaluated to examine the effects of HAP between before and after program. In the emotional intelligence, mean value of the lower grade students showed high score of 111.3 after HAP compared to 91.6 before HAP, and mean value of the upper grade students showed high score of 114.0 after HAP compared to 106.2 before HAP. In social competency, mean value of the lower grade students was higher by score of 131.7 after HAP than score of 118.0 before HAP, and mean value of the upper grade students was higher by score of 137.8 after HAP than score of 122.8 before HAP. And, social competency of all subjects was significantly improved regardless of grades. In school adjustment, mean value of the lower grade students was higher by score of 117.6 after HAP than score of 106.6 before HAP, and mean value of the upper grade students was higher by score of 119.9 after HAP than score of 111.6 before HAP. And, school adjustment of all subjects was significantly improved regardless of grades.
