Bulb and Shoot Growth by Planting Time of Bulblet in Tulipa gesneriana

This study was conducted to examine the effect of planting time of bulblet(bulb circumference 7cm) on shoot and bulb growth in Tulipa gesneriana ‘Kees Nelis’,‘Dreaming Maid’, and ‘Merry Christmas’. The bulblet was planted on 15 Oct., 15 Nov., 15 Dec., 15 Jan., and 15 Feb.. When bulblet of tulip ‘Kees Nelis’ was planted on Oct. and Nov., plant height, shoot fresh weight, and bulb weight was increased than that planted on 10 Jan.. In tulip‘Dreaming Maid’, shoot and bulb growth was poorer in treatment planted on 15 Jan.. But bulb weight was heavier in treatment planted on 15 Nov., and other bulb growth was not different significantly. The shoot and bulb growth of ‘Merry Christmas’ was not effective in treatment planted on 15 Jan.. The treatments planted between Oct. and Dec. was not different significantly in bulb growth, but the bulb showed the better growth in growth in treatment planted on 15 Nov. than the others.
