Effect of Linalool Oil Massage Originated from Plant on the Change of Cortisol, DHEA and IgA in Blood and Saliva of Housewives

This study analyzed the effect of linalool on the changes in stress hormone contents in blood and saliva, targeting housewives in their mid-thirties to mid-forties. After classifying the research subjects into a control group, an almond oil massage group, an almond oil massage group with 0.5% of linalool, total 10 massage programs were conducted for 5 weeks. Then, the changes in Cortisol, DHEA and lgA contents in blood and saliva were analyzed before and after the experiments. As the result, a stress-related hormone of housewives, Cotisol in blood significantly reduced in the almond oil massage group with 0.5% of linalool, and DHEA didn’t showed a changes between the groups. Also, lgA content in saliva showed a change, but no significant effect was found in the almond oil massage group and the almond oil massage group with linalool. This means that the increase in lgA content in saliva was influenced by massage. In conclusion, these results demonstrate linalool has a certain effect in the reduction in stress, and the effect could improve, when this applies along with massage.
