Preference of Firefly and Ecological Activity of Participants in the Firefly Family Environment Festival 2014

This study was to invest program preferences which targeted to children and parents who participated in the firefly family environment festival in Norubeol located in Seogu, Daejeon. 27.5 % of the people have never seen a firefly before joining, 46.4 % of the people have seen it 2 or 3 times, 10.1 % were 4 or 5 times, and 15.9 % were more than 6 times. It shows that younger age showed higher satisfaction for staff, higher interest in fireflies, also took ecology teachers’ explanation to heighten understanding of animals and plants. It also indicates that the respondents very interested in fireflies liked to make natural objects and showed interest in exhibitions and observation of aquatic organisms, but not interest in firefly habitat nighttime exploration. They also showed the greatest interest in making metasequoia bracelets among making natural objects activities. On the other hand, the people not interested in fireflies at all were not interested in activities much, but they happened to show great interest in fireflies habitat nighttime exploration. 50 % of the people answered that the interesting thing among making natural objects activities was making plates utilizing natural objects. Among people that are interested in fireflies, 98.5 % were satisfied in the festival, 95.6 % showed intention of reparticipation, and 77.9 % responded that they were willing to participate in the monitoring program.
