자원봉사학의 전망과 과제

Prospect and Task for Volunteering as a Social Science

본 연구는 자원봉사학의 필요성과 현주소를 진단하고 자원봉사학의 체계적 정립을 위해 요구되는 과제를 자원봉사의 촛점(focus)과 소재(locus)의 측면에서 제시하고자 하였다. 자원봉사는 개인,조직,사회,정책 수준에 이르기까지 보편적 현상으로 나타나고 있으며, 현재 자원봉사에 대한 연구와 교육은 공식적 학문분류체계에서 배재된 채 다 학문분야의 연구주제로 산재되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 자원봉사학의 정립을 위해 ‘학회’를 중심으로 ‘자원봉사’ 중심에 포커스된 내용적 구성체계와 관련이론 및 지식의 축적이 필요함을 제시 하였다.

The author strived to address what we ought to undertake to consolidate volunteering as a discipline sytematically in terms of its focus and locus. A review of the current state of volunteering has revealed that it is a universal phenomenon, which is seen at the individual, organizational, societal, and policy levels. Research and educational activities in and of volunteering is performed across various disciplines, with no official status as a single discipline. The author argued that it is the Association who is the critical actor to establish volunteering as a discipline, and that it should play the leading role in developing the substantive constructs the focus of which addresses the centerpieces of volunteering and encouraging its members efforts to develop and refine theories and research practices.
