The business environment today can be described as a digital economy where information flows freely, and where business processes can be improved with the use of information technologies. The Internet has played a key role in transforming and creating new business models for many organizations. And, it has become the infrastructure of choice in electronic commerce because it provides process efficiency, cost reduction, and open standards that can easily be adopted by different organizations. The Internet also can be applied to coordinate supply chain (SC) processes with external organizations by integrating front- and back-end business processes. The success of the Internet didn t come without its share of difficulties and one such difficulty is its security. We address the importance of security framework in managing the information shared among the parties in the SC process. This paper could provide valuable contributions to both academics and industry by addressing how security framework and architecture should be set to deal with security concerns and provide the necessary support for SC process.
