부모의 학업관여, 그릿이 영어 학업성취도에 미치는 영향: 성별 차이를 중심으로

A Study on the Effects of Parental Learning Involvement, Grit on English Academic Achievement: Focusing on Gender Differences

본 연구는 우리나라 부모의 학업관여 정도와 그릿, 영어 학업성취도 간의 구조적 관계 및 구조적 관계에 대한 성별 차이를 확인하고자 하였다. 2018년 4월 12일 부산의 B 고등학교를 직접 방문하여 이틀간 질문지 570부를 수거하였다. 그 중 불성실한 응답 94부를 제외하고, 총 476부를 연구자료로 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 부모의 학업 관여와 그릿은 영어 학업성취를 정적으로 예측하였으며, 그릿은 부모의 학업관여와 영어 학업성취 간의 관계를 부분매개하였다. 보다 구체적으로 그릿은 부모의 학업정 보제공과 영어 학업성취 사이를 정적으로 부분매개 하였으며, 부모의 학업성취압력과 영어학업성취 사이를 부적으로 부분매개 하였다. 또한, 부모의 학업관여 중 학업 정보제공에서 그릿으로 이르는 경로계수가 여학생에 비해 남학생에게서 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의, 한계점, 교육적 시사점, 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

The Purpose of this study is to investigate the structural relationship of Parental Learning Involvement, Grit, and English academic achievement. Surveys were conducted to 570 high school students living in Busan. The results of the study are as follows. First, both Parental Learning Involvement and Grit affected English academic achievement positively. Second, it was observed that Parental Learning Involvement had a direct effect on Grit. More specifically, Parental provisions of academic information and Grit had a positive correlation, and negative correlation was shown in a relationship between Parental academic pressure and Grit. Third, Grit had a negative indirect mediation effect between Parental academic pressure and English academic achievement, and Grit had a positive indirect mediation effect between Parental provisions of academic information and English academic achievement. Fourth, gender difference worked as a moderator in a relationship among Parental Learning Involvement, Grit, and English academic achievement. In other words, there was a significant difference between a group of male and a group of female in the path from Parental provisions of academic information to Grit. The path coefficient of Parental provisions of academic information to Grit was significantly higher in the group of male than that of female.
