Isoflavone is synthesized in several different organs such as root, leaf and developing and germinating seed. Isoflavone content reflects overall history of physiological event given to a plant during certain period of time. Amount of isoflavone in a organ or tissues is controlled by two key enzymes of isoflavone metabolism, isoflavone synthase and isoflavone reductase, ultimately. Many genes engaged in isoflavone synthesis response to biotic and abiotic stresses. In our previous study, it appeared that isoflavone content in germinating mung bean seed is increased by stress related chemical compound, for example, salicylic acid. Here, we found that both genes encoding isoflavone synthase and isoflavone reductase are over-expressed in germinating soybean seed by salicylic and acetyl salicylic acid treatment. These over-expression of both genes led to enhenced level of isoflavone in germinating soybean seed.
