“Jinbongbyeo” is a early maturing rice cultivar adaptable to late season culture developed by the rice breeding team in the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA, Suwon, Korea in 2000. Jinbongbyeo was derived from a cross between Suweon 349 and Unbongbyeo made in 1988/‘89 winter season. Jinbongbyeo is moderately resistant to blast but susceptible to bacterial blight, virus diseases and most insect pests. Yield potential of Jinbongbyeo is higher than that of Geumobyeo at late season culture. The yield performance of this cultivar in milled rice is about 5.50 MT/ha at normal season culture and 4.94 MT/ha at late season culture in local adaptability test for three years. This variety is adaptable to mid-northern mountainous and northern east coast area for normal season culture and is adaptable to mid and southern plain area for late season culture in Korea.
