노인학습자의 사이버대학 학습경험의 의미 탐색

Learning Experience of Old Adults in Cyber University

본 연구는 노인학습자의 사이버대학 학습경험의 의미를 사례 연구를 통해 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 사이버대학 입학 동기는 무엇인지, 학습경험을 통해 어떤 변화가 있었는지에 대한 의미를 분석하였다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 노인학습자는 대학학위, 자격증, 자기계발 등을 통해 노년기에 가능한 진로, 직업을 모색하기 위해 입학하였다. 둘째, 노년기에 대학을 다니고 있으며, 전문용어 활용능력, 디지털 리터러시 능력이 향상되고 있다는 자부심을 갖게 되었다. 셋째, 노년기에 암기력, 체력 등에 한계를 느끼면서도 어렵게 학습노하우를 마련해갔다. 넷째, 인생경험이 전문지식을 이해하고, 활용하는 데에도 도움이 된다는 것을 알게 되었다. 다섯째, 노년기라는 것을 인정하고 싶지 않을 때도 있지만, 젊은 학습자와 소통할 수 있는 온라인, 오프라인 세대통합 프로그램을 필요로 했다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 사이버대학 노인학습자들을 위한 지원방안을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to determine meanings of learning experience of old adults in Cyber Universitiy through analyzing their motives of admission to such universities and what changes they had from learning experience. First, it was found that old adults enrolled in cyber courses to seek careers and jobs for the elderly by obtaining university degrees and certificates or practicing self-improvement. Second, the old adults prided themselves on attending universities in old age and developing their abilities to use technical terms and digital literacy. Third, although feeling limited in memory and physical strength, they managed to establish their own learning know-how. Fourth, understanding that their life experience was helpful to acquire and handle expert knowledge. Fifth, they did not want to admit their being in old age at times, but they required online/offline programs for generation integration by which they could communicate with younger learners as fellow students. Based on these results, we in this study discussed how to support old adults in Cyber Universitiy.
