포스트모던 시대에서의 설교를 위한 방법론적 모색

A Search for a Homiletical Methodology in the Postmodern World

기독교 설교 형식은 고정된 것이 아니라 변하는 것이다. 설교를 통해서 선포되는 복음의 본질은 변화될 수 없지만, 그것을 표현하는 형식은 변화되어야한다. 역사적으로 볼 때 기독교 설교는 지금까지 다양한 형태로 변화되어 왔었고, 이런 현상은 앞으로도 계속 될 것이다. 설교는 하나님의 말씀을 오늘의 사람들에게 전달하는 것이다. 여기에는 설교학적 측면에서 볼 때 두 가지의 중요한 요소, 즉‘하나님의 말씀’이라는 것과‘오늘의 사람들’이라는 요소가 공존하고 있으며, 설교자는 언제나 이 두측면을 동시에 고려해야 한다. 하나님의 말씀은 시간과 공간을 초월해서 변할 수 없다. 그러나 그것을 전하는 설교의 형식은 듣는 청중들의 사회적 문화적 상황에 따라서 변화될 수 있어야 한다. 설교자는 성경의 말씀을 사람들에게 설교한다. 그러므로 보다 효과적으로 설교하기 위해서 설교자는 하나님의 말씀으로서의 성경을 잘 알아야 할 뿐만 아니라 설교를 듣는 청중으로서의 사람들에 대해서도 잘 알아야 한다. 필자는 오늘의 많은 설교자들이 설교에서 실패하는 분명한 원인 가운데 하나는 그들의 성경에 대한 지식의 결여라기보다는 오히려 청중들에 대한 이해의 부족에서 오는 것이라 생각한다. 설교자는 설교의 텍스트가 되는 성경을 읽어야 한다. 그러나 그것만으로는 부족하다. 설교자는 성경을 읽는 것과 함께 그의 청중들이 살고 있는 세상을 읽을 수 있어야 한다. 오늘 우리는 소위 포스트모던 시대를 살고 있다. 이 시대의 변화는 지금 사람들의 사고와 가치관에 있어서 많은 변화들을 요구하고 있으며, 이것은 기독교 교회와 설교에 대해서도 예외가 아니다. 이런 상황에서 만일 설교자가 이 시대의 현상들을 바로 이해하지 못한다면, 그는 자신의 설교 사역에 있어서 심각한 어려움들에 직면하게 될 수밖에 없을 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 우리 시대의 한 흐름으로서의 포스트모던 세계를 설교학적 관점에서 이해하고, 설교 현장으로서의 오늘의 교회 상황을 분석하면서, 포스트모던 시대에서 어떻게 설교를 해야 할 것인가에 대한 방법론을 찾아 제시해 보고자 한다.

The form of preaching is not fixed in itself but can be changed. The essence of the Gospel that is proclaimed through a sermon should not be changed but the form that expresses it should be changed. Therefore, in its history Christian preaching has been changed in various forms until now and this phenomenon will continue in the future. Preaching is to deliver the Word of God to the people in the present. There are two important factors in this aspect of homiletics, the Word of God and the people in the present. It means the Word of God is unchanged anywhere and anytime, but the form of preaching can be changed according to the social and cultural situation of its listeners. We preach the Bible to people. So in order to preach more effectively we must know well not only the Bible as the Word of God but also the people as the audience of preaching. I think an obvious reason that many preachers experience failure in their preaching is not due to a lack of their knowledge of the Bible but a lack of their understanding of the audience. The preacher should read the Bible, but it is not enough. At the same time he/she should read the world in which his/her audiences live. Today we live in the so-called postmodern era. The changes in this period require changes in people’s thought and worldview, and the church and her preaching is no exception. In this situation if a preacher does not understand the phenomena of this age, he/she might be confronted with serious difficulties in the preaching ministry. This article is written to understand the postmodern world as a trend of our time in the perspective of homiletics, to know the situation of the church today as a field of preaching, and to search for a way to preach in this postmodern time.
