&nbsp;&nbsp;한국 교회에서 1907년 평양 대부흥 운동은 한국 교회의 갱신에 있어서 없어서는 안될 중요한 사건이다. 갱신은 인간 구원 사상에 관련되는 말로 “질적으로 새로운 것”을 의미하는 말로 사용된다. 인간의 갱신은 인간의 죄로부터 하나님의 용서를 통해 이루어진다(참조. 시 51:7, 10, 12; 겔 36:25f). 인간 갱신을 위해서 성령이 인간 속에 근본적인 변화를 만들었다(비교. 겔 37:14).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;고린도후서 5:21은 그리스도가 십자가 대속(代贖)이 인간의 죄 문제를 해결한다는 사실을 말한다. 그리스도의 죽음을 통해 인간 속에 갱신이 이루어지며 새롭게 맺어진 계약으로 인하여 모든 민족이 약속을 가지게 된다(참조. 마 26:28; 막 14:24; 고전 11:25). 이 “새 계약’의 약속은 예수 그리스도 안에서 이루어졌다. 이 “새 계약”은 보다 나은 계약(히 7:22)으로 “영원한 계약”(히 13:20)이다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;갱신은 성령을 통하여 인간 속에 일어나는 근본적인 변화이다. 성령의 새롭게 하심은 인간 개인을 근본적으로 변화시킨다. 바울은 고린도후서 5:17에서 “누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다”고 말한다. 새 피조물은 그리스도 안에서 갱신된 새로운 사람이다. 그런데 이 갱신은 그리스도의 속죄 죽음에 기인된다(참조. 고후 5:14-15). “갱신”은 개인의 삶의 변화에 그쳐서는 안 되고 교회 공동체와 민족과 국가의 변화로 나아가야 한다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;평양 대부흥 운동은 그리스도 안에서 경험하는 갱신된 새로운 삶의 변화를 한국인에게 이루었다. 구세주 되신 예수 그리스도는 갱신된 자의 변화만 아니라, 그들의 가정에도 많은 변화를 이루었다. 그리스도인들은 “그리스도 안에서” 갱신된 자로 살지만 여전히 죄악에 노출되어 있고, 세상 속에서 환난을 당하고 어렵다. 그러나 약속을 믿기 때문에 인내하며 절망하지 말고 희망이신 그리스도를 바라며 “평화”를 이루기 위해(참조. 롬 12:18; 엠 2:14-15) 노력하며 그리스도의 평화를 세상 속에서 펼쳐가야 할 것이다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;The 1907 revival in Pyungyang was an extremely valuable event for Korean Church renewal. The word "renewal" refers both to the quality of newness and salvation. The renewal of human is achieved through God&quot;s forgiveness of human&quot;s sin (cf. Ps 51:7, 10, 12 ; Ez 36:25f.). It is for this renewal that the Holy Spirit has made fundamental changes in human (cf. Ez 37: 14).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2 Cor 5:21 says that Jesus&quot; redemptive power solves all problems of human sin. The whole nation has been promised a new covenant, because Christ&quot;s death has renewed all mankind (cf. Matt 26:28; Mk 14:24 ; 1 Cor 11:25). This "New covenant" is completed and realized in Jesus Christ. It is also a superior (Heb 7:22) and "eternal" covenant (Heb 13:20).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;"Renewal" means, fundamental change in all people through the Holy Spirit. Renewal through the Holy Spirit brings substantial change to everyone. In 2 Cor 5:17, Paul says, "So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see I have created all things new!" A renewed human is a new creature in Jesus Christ. This renewal is a result of the death of Christ (cf. 2 Cor 5:14-15). The term "renewal" is not limited to changes in an individual life, but includes changes within the church and the nation itself.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The 1907 Revival in Pyungyang, Korea, marked the rededication of many new lives to Christ. Jesus Christ accomplishes momentous changes in the lives of not only individuals, but families as well. Christians live "in Christ" as new persons, but they are still exposed to sin, afflicted with trouble, and experience the hardships of this world. However, because Christians believe in the promises of God, they need to lead patient and faithful lives, pursuing Christ the true hope, and spreading the peace of Christ to the world(cf. Rom 12: 18 ; Eph 2:14).
