죽재 서남동의 교회론과 민중선교

Ecclesiology and Minjung Mission of Suh, Nam Dong

민중교회는 한국의 역사적 상황에서 성서적 신앙과 그리스도교의 정통성을 회복하는 교회운동으로 태동되었다. 그동안 민중교회는 민중의 현실을 외면하는 타락한 교회를 개혁하여 교회의 종말론적 본래성을 회복하려는 ‘교회운동’과 민중을 억압하는 불의한 사회구조를 개혁하여 하나님의 정의와 평화가 넘치는 새로운 사회를 건설하려는 ‘사회운동’을 통하여 교회개혁과 사회변혁에 지대한 공헌을 하였다. 그러나 오늘날 민중교회는 신학의 빈곤, 연대조직의 약화, 교회성장의 정체와 변화된 현실에 대한 선교전략의 부재로 심각한 자기정체성과 생존의 위기에 직면해 있다. 그러므로 필자는 이 논문에서 민중교회가 현재의 위기상황을 극복하려면 먼저 올바른 교회론이 확립되어야 하며, 그것에 기초한 선교정책이 수립되어야 한다는 전제 하에 서남동의 교회론의 입장에서 민중교회의 문제점을 비판적으로 숙고하면서 민중교회의 본질과 선교를 재정립하였다.

Minjung Church has begun as the church movements to recover the biblical faith and the orthodox of christian in the Korea’s historical situation. In the meantime, Minjung Church has been an enormous contribution to the church reform and social reform throughout not only the church movements trying to restore an original eschatological faith of the church from the reform the corrupt church that neglected the historical reality of minjung but also the social movements trying to build a new society that is from the reform of the unrighteous social structure that oppressed minjung to God’s righteousness and peace fulfilled. However, today Minjung Church is confronted by a serious crisis of identity and survival because of the poverty of theology, weakening of solidarity organizations, stagnation of the Church’s Growth and the absence of missionary strategy to the changed social realities. The author of this paper has thought, if Minjung Church wants to overcome the current crisis, it would be first establish a correct ecclesiology and formulation based on its missionary policy. therefore, the author of this paper reconstructs the Minjung Church’s essence and missionary work critically in consideration of the Minjung Church’s problems on the standpoint of Suh, Nam Dong’ Ecclesiology.
