현대의 가족 변화에 대한 기독교 근본주의의 대응에 대한 성 인지적 비교 연구

A comparative study on the reaction of Christian fundamentalism to the change of the modern family in Korea and the United States from the gender sensitive perspective

본 연구는 미국과 한국의 사례 연구의 성과에 근거하여 현대 가족 변화에 대한 기독교 근본주의의 대응에서 공통점과 차이점을 밝히고, 기독교 근본주의의 가족신학 담론을 성 인지적 관점에서 평가하여 기독교 근본주의의 사회문화적 성격을 규명하였다. 양국의 기독교 근본주의가 가족변화에 대응하는 차이점은 기독교 전통의 자생성과 외래성, 개인의식의 발달 수준, 사회문화적 배경의 요인들에서 비롯되고, 그 공통점은 위기의 인식과 대응 방식, 신학적 담론의 논리와 구조, 사회문화적 전략 등의 맥락에서 드러난다. 두 사례에 대한 성 인지적 비교 연구에서 본 연구자는 현대의 가족 변화에 대한 한국과 미국의 기독교 근본주의의 대응이 가부장적 질서를 옹호하려는 급진화된 전통주의와 사회문화적 보수주의에 입각한 일종의 저항 전략으로 평가될 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다.

This research is based on case studies on the reaction of Christian fundamentalism to the change of the modern family in Korea and the United States. It illuminates similarities and differences between Korean and Amenrican fundamentalists and evaluates the Christian fundamentalism’s discussion of family theology from a gender sensitive perspective to make a close inquiry about its socio-cultural character. The differences in the reaction of Korean and Amenrican fundamentalists to the change of the family come from the formation of the Christian tradition in both countries, the socio-cultural backgrounds and the political strategy for mobilizing the reaction to the change etc. And similarities can be found in perception of crisisand response to it, the logic and structure of theological discussion etc. From the gender sensitive comparative study I have come to the conclusion that the reaction of Christian fundamentalism to the change of the modern family in both Korea and the US can be characterized as radical traditionalism, which has played a role as a resistance strategy to protect the patriarchal order. Therefore Christian fundamentalism would preserve a socio-cultural conservatism.
