A New Cut Flower Gerbera Cultivar, “Noble Hugging” with Ivory Large Size Flower, Single type and Black Disc

A new cut-flower gerbera (Gerbera hybrida Hort.) “Noble Hugging” was renamed from ‘B3-16’, a seedling selected from F1 population of a cross of maternal parent “Michelle”, the single flower having orange ray flowers and black disc and pollen parent “Picasso”, the single flower having pinky ray flowers banded with white stripe and green disc at NHRI. It was crossed in 1998 and finally selected in 2003 after the investigation of the characteristics for five years from 1998 to 2003. The major characteristics of “Noble Hugging” are as follows. The single flower consists of a ivory ray flowers and black disc. And it has long strong flower stalk and long cut-flower longevity. It will be able to be planted in any greenhouse region in Korea.
