A New Phalaenopsis Cultivar, “Pink Dream” with Dark Pink Flower

A new cultivar of Phalaenopsis “Pink Dream” was initially selected from the progenies derived from the self-pollination the selfing of 3039 (germ-plasm 3039, collection in the country) in 1995 at the National Horticultural Research Institute, Rural Development Administration. It was finally selected in 2002 after the investigation of the characteristics for five years (1998-2002). “Pink Dream” has medium-sized dark pink flower, thick petal, sepal, and long blooming, semi-upright leaf and highmass propagation of 50% than cv. “Happy Valentine”. Strong sunlight should be avoided for its growth. Cultivar “Pink Dream” requires a long days (120 days) to flowering at low temperature. Growing temperatures of 35℃/15℃ (day/night) are advisable. It is grown over 15℃ at night and under 35℃ during daytime. A variety protection has been applied for this cultivar in 2005.
