A new poinsettia cultivar “Angela” was released by the National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI) in 2005. A cross was made between “Freedom Red”, a variety with dark green leaves and dark red bracts, and “V-10 Amy”, a light-red colored variety in 2000. “Angela” was finally selected in 2003 after the investigation of the growth and flower characteristics from 2001 to 2003. “Angela” has creamy white colored, broad elliptic bracts, and has strong intensity of rugosity between veins in bract. Compact canopy is formed at anthesis owing to its relatively uniform elongation of branches. Response to short day is so early that its bracts are fully colored 6.5 weeks after short day commencement.
