A new peanut variety ‘Danuri’(Arachis hypogaea ssp. fastigiata L.) was developed at the Yeongnam Agricultural Research Institute, National Institute of Crop Science, in Milyang in 2004. It was developed from the cross between the high-yielding cultivar ‘SP9028’ and the disease resistant cultivar ‘SP8638’. Danuri which has Shinpung plant type is less branch number with early flowering and ellipse-shaped large kernel. Each pod has two grains with purple testa and 100 seed weight was 99 g in the regional yield trials (RYT). This variety also showed more resistant to early and late leaf spots and web blotch compared with check one. This new variety had 27.5% protein and 49.0% oil, including 57.6% oleic acid in fatty acid composition. In RYT ‘Danuri’ was outyielded than check variety’ by 16% with 3.87 t/ha for grain. This variety would be registered as a new variety to all over the peanut cultivation area except mountainous area of Korea.
