“Cheongdu 1” was developed from a cross between a local germplasm collected at Hoengseong and Shinpaldalkong 2. The breeding line, SS95324-2-2, was evaluated in yield trials from 1999 to 2001. This line was designated as Suwon 221 and tested for local adaptability in seven locations from 2001 to 2003. “Cheongdu 1” has a determinate growth habit, purple flower, brown pubescence and oval leaf shape. Seeds characteristics of this cultivar are green testa, green cotyledon, and light brown hilum. It is resistant to soybean mosaic virus and other most troublesome soybean diseases, which are bacterial pustule and black root rot. Especially, Cheongdu 1 is of utility value for new consumer demand as green color tofu because of unique green color in testa and cotyledon. The average yield was 2.49 ton/ha in the regional adaptation yield trials over seven locations.
