초등학교 역사교육의 주요 주제로 다루어지고 있는 병자호란에 대한 기존 인식방식의 문제를 드러내고 올바른 대안을 제시하려 하였다. 먼저 기존 교육과정과 교과서 내용을 분석하고 명백한 오류와 문제점을 지적하였으며, 특히 주전론과 주화론의 입장을 무모한 명분론과 바람직한 실리론으로 이해하는 방식의 문제점을 밝혔다. 초등학교 교실에서의 역사교육은 명확한 역사적 사실과 당대인의 사고방식에 대한 정확한 이해를 바탕으로 이루어져야 한다.
The purpose in this paper is to show the proper way of teaching the Manchu invasion of Joseon in 1636 which treated as a important issue in the elementary school history education. First, I analyzed the Korean history education curriculums and textbooks which mentioned about it. Second, I reveal the errors and distortions of the previous thinking about this subject. Especially, the arguement of jingoism and pacifism in Joseon government on Namhansanseong fortress was not the conflict of justification and materialism. In conclusion, the explanation of correct fact about the past is the most essential and important point of the elementary school history education.
