『백병구급신방』의 어휘 연구

A Study of Vocabulary in Baekbyeong Gugeup Sinbang

이 글은 19세기 중엽에 간행된 수진본 의서 『백병구급신방』의 어휘 가운데 옛말사전류에 등재되지 않은 희귀어를 추출하여 그 의미를 분석하는 데에 목적이 있다. 특히 간행 시기를 고려하여, 분석 대상 어휘들이 현대 국어 사전에 등재되었는지를 살핌으로써 어휘사적 성격을 엿보고자 하였다. 옛말사전류에 등재되지 않은 어휘는 88개인데, 현대 국어 사전에 실리지 않은 어휘는 42개이고, 현대 국어 사전에 등재된 것은 46개이다. 옛말사전류에 없으면서 현대 국어 사전에 실려 있는 어휘가 많다는 것은, 이 책의 어휘 체계가 고어보다는 현대어 쪽에 가까운 것이라고 생각된다. 이런 점은 19세기 중엽 이후의 어휘 체계의 성격과, 현대어 어휘 체계의 출발을 추정하게 한다는 점에서 주목된다. 구급방 계열 의서의 어휘는 일상어가 많고, 약재명은 단일어보다 복합어가 많은 것이 특징인데 이 책에서도 그러한 양상을 보여준다. 분석된 어휘는, 단일어 24개, 복합어 64개로 복합어가 많고, 합성어 47개가 파생어 17개보다 압도적으로 많다. 이는 약재명의 조어론적 구성 방식 때문이다. 그리고 방언 어휘도 나타나는데 구급방이면서 수진본이라는 문헌의 성격이 반영된 결과이다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the meanings of vocabularies, that are not registered in the dictionary of Middle Korean, extracted from Baekbyeong Gugeup Sinbang published in mid 19th century. Especially in this study, paying attention to the fact that Baekbyeong Gugeup Sinbang was written close to the modern Korean, by looking for the extracted vocabularies in the dictionary of Modern Korean, tried to figure out what characteristic they imply in the history of vocabulary. 88 vocabularies which are not registered in the Middle Korean dictionary were targeted. There are total 42 purely rare vocabularies. And there are 46 words that are registered in the dictionary of Modern Korean. Noticing the fact that there are many words that are in the Modern Korean dictionary but not in the Middle Korean dictionary, it can be said that the vocabulary system of this book is generally close to modern language than Middle Korean language. These facts are paid attention for enabling to guess the characteristic of vocabulary system of books from mid 19th century and 20th century, and the start of the modern vocabulary system. Vocabularies, that are used in Gugeupbang affiliated medical books, have characteristic for using ordinary language commonly, and this book shows that aspect. Among the analyzed vocabularies, it appears that complex words with 64 units outnumber single words with only 24 units. Out of complex words, there are 47 compound words which outnumbers 17 derivative words, this is because the characteristic of word formation that formats of medication names have. This book has dialects, which also shows that the characteristic of Gugeupbang is reflected.
