Study on the Lighting Device of Three Kingdoms Period

조명을 위한 燈器가 출현한 시점에 대해서는 현재 명확히 알 수 없으나, 선사시대 주거지의 爐址가 취사와 난방의 기능과 함께 조명의 역할을 하였을 것이다. 국내에 전문적인 燈器의 출현은 낙랑 유적에서 확인할 수 있으며, 생각보다 많은 양이 존재하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이후 三國時代에 들어서면 燈器 종류가 늘어나는데, 크게 燈盞, 燈臺, 燭과 燭臺로 분류할 수 있다. 多燈式 燈盞은 中國 漢과 낙랑의 영향으로 출현한 것으로 생각되는데, 상부에 4개에서 7개까지 많은 수의 盞이 부착된 특징적인 형태를 띠고 있다. 또한 내부에 효율적인 기름의 사용을 위한 管이 있는 특징이 있다. 종지형 등잔은 대량생산이 실시되어외부의 형태가 매우 다양하게 나타나는데, 내부에는 촉과 받침 등 연료의 효율적인 활용을 위한 시설이 존재한다. 다음으로, 효율적인 조명을 위해 燈臺는 필수적은 요소로, 서울 풍납토성과 고구려 쌍영총의 벽화에서 盞 부분과 받침대 부분이 결합되어 있는 형태가 확인되며 이는 晉의 영향이 추정된다. 이후 中國의 경우 南北朝時代에 들어서며 燈臺의 盞 부분과 받침대 부분의 분리가 확인되는데, 三國 역시 이러한 변화가 있었을 것으로 추정된다. 다만 현재 많은 자료가 남아있지 않은데 대부분 鐵製 또는 木製로 만들어진 것이 원인으로 추정된다. 燭과 燭臺 역시 기존의 인식과 달리 삼국시대에도 사용되었을 가능성이 존재하는데, 원주 법천리와 평양 동산동의 동물형 청자가 주목된다. 燈器에 대해 세부적으로 알아보면 住居遺蹟 뿐만 아니라 古墳과 寺址에서도 출토됨을 확인할 수 있다. 古墳에서는 주로 副葬品의 성격으로 多燈式 燈盞이 출토되며, 일부 고분에서는 실제로 내부에서 조명을 실시한 것이 확인된다. 寺址에서는 다량의 등잔이 출토되는데 조명의 용도뿐만 아니라 供養品으로 사용되었던 것을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 住居遺蹟서는 다양한 燈器를 사용하는데, 生活容器를 燈盞 代用品으로 사용하거나 손잡이가 달린 종류를 통해 이동하면서도 조명을 실시한 것으로 보인다. 고대 사회에서 照明은 당시 구하기 어려운 기름을 소비하는 경제적 행위이며, 이러한 큰 비용을 감당할 수 있는 일부 계층을 중심으로 실시된 문화적 행위였을 것이다. 또한, 어둠을 밝히는 기능적 의미 외에 亡者를 위한 부장품으로 사용되거나 燃燈供養의 의미를 보여주는 복합적인 성격의 유물로 생각된다.

Although the point that the lighting devices for illumination appeared can not be known clearly at the current moment, the lighting devices in the residences must have done the role of illumination as well as the functions of cooking and heating in the prehistoric ages. After that, the appearance of the domestic lighting devices can be proved through the multiple branch type of oil lamps from Nakrang. To survey the types of the lighting devices during the Three Kingdoms Period, the multiple cup type of oil lamps considered to have appeared due to the influence of Nakrang and Chinese Han dynasty. They are of the shape to which various four to seven cups are attached. Next, it is assumed that the small dish type of lamp were used entering the end of the 5th century. Lastly, there exist, lampstands and their shape that the cup part and the stand part are combined just like the lighting device from Chines Qin. The separation of the cup part and the stand part could be found in the period of South and North Dynasties and it is assumed that there must have been these changes in the Three Kingdoms Period also. To survey the use of the lighting devise in detail, it is thought that the multiple cup type of oil lamps were mostly used for the burial goods in the tombs and the small dish type of lamps are being excavated in many places simultaneously in a large quantity. Judging from such fact, it can be known that the lighting devices were used as the Buddhism offerings. To see about the lighting devices from the three kingdoms period comprehensively, not only the quantity is very large, but also it can be known that those lighting devices were excavated in the main relics such as royal palaces, limbs and tombs and thus it is concluded that more in-depth studies will be required and therefore this paper has tried to extend the studies on the lighting devices.
