아쿠타가와 류노스케의 『거미줄』 고찰

A Study on The Spider’s Thread of R. Akutagawa

  • 54

In Spider’s Thread, all of the questions arising from the work converge on the point: ‘Why the web is cut off from the front where the Kandata hangs’. In other words, this relates to the issue of whether the Buddha had a desire to save Kandata from the beginning. If we say that salvation is the work of escaping from the negative situation necessarily manifesting in life through the power of divine existence or our own effort, we can say that we are throwing the question of whether there is salvation in human beings and that the question is thrown in the work Spider’s Thread. In the other‐powered religion, the ‘Absolute’ is inevitably faced with the question of whether it has the will to fundamentally save human beings as in the work, and also it is faced with the question of whether the accomplishment of the “performer” who have to climb up thousands of miles of spider’s thread for the paradise can be fulfilled in the selfpowered eligion. The answer posited by the author in the work is that neither is possible. In the human world, there is only one thing left that makes each other hell and the recognition that it is almost impossible to escape from it is spreading deeply in the author Akutagawa. It would not be an overstatement, if we change the words, saying that his surrounding fundamental ideas for human beings are deeply covered by nihilism.
